I was in the car with Brian driving home from Auckland airport after landing from a short holiday in Brisbane when Brian turned around and asked me if I needed to get anything from home or if I had packed everything I needed.. I thought what a strange question, considering we were heading home, obviously I have everything in my suitcase? Once I questioned Brian what he meant, he told me that we weren’t going home; we were in fact staying away at the Hotel Grand Windsor for the night.. excited was an understatement; I knew the rooms at the hotel were elegantly designed, so I was excited to see what room we had and spend some time together as we hadn’t seen each other in a while.
The hotel dates back to 1928 and is full of character and elegance, it’s located in the heart of the city centre so is perfect for anyone looking for somewhere to stay whist they explore what Auckland has to offer! Although we didn’t actually eat in the Hotel Grand Windsor’s restaurant, I had a walk around the dining hall and was mesmerised by the art decor which dates back to early 1900’s.
As soon as I opened the door to our room I fell in love. I could easily see myself having a bedroom similar o this one in the future. Every room comes with free wifi, Sky TV, a Bluetooth Bose speaker, Tea set and an Nespresso coffee machine.. what could you want for a couple of nights stay?!
According to the website, the hotel offers room service, however when we inquired about this, the receptionist told us to ring down and see if the chef of the restaurant is able to cater for us, which was a slight disappointment because we were looking forward to having dinner in bed and staying In for the night and I didn’t think they had a massive choice of main dinners so we decided to eat out but considering the location of the hotel, it wasn’t difficult to find a restaurant only a short walk away.
One of my favourite places in the City in the viaduct which is only a short walk away from the Hotel Grand Windsor and 100% worth the visit if you do stay here!
I’m always on the hunt for new hotels to stay at.. have you stayed in any other hotels in the City?
